Caribbean Adventures: Pt 1

I’ve been interested in doing a travel blog for quite some time now and I recently had the chance to travel to the US Virgin Islands. I could have just done a mass photo dump on social media to show off my vacation. But it’s much more meaningful to give the photos context, so I figured this is the perfect time to give travel blogging a shot. If you have plans on traveling to the Virgin Islands I recommend reading these posts for some recommendations and tips 😊

Day 1: Arriving

We flew into St. Croix around dinner time on Monday Feb 27th after a short layover in Atlanta. My mom and I flew in first; my cousin Megan and her dad’s partner Leslie flew in shortly after.

We waited quite some time to get our rental car and then we were off to our air bnb! The place we stayed was called Villa Sunrise. It was a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom house that had an outdoor pool and overlooked the ocean.

Night 1: Dinner & Dancing

Once we all picked our rooms and unpacked, we got ready to go out to dinner. Leslie has been to the Virgin Islands many times so luckily we had our own built in tour guide! One of her favorite places to eat is called the Deep End at the Tamarind Reef Resort. We saw on the Deep End’s facebook page that they offer free salsa dance lessons on Monday nights. We all had a chance to dance with a couple of the guys who were teaching the lessons 😊

Day 2: Chanay Bay

Tuesday was our first full day on the island. We decided to hit the beach at Chanay Bay! It’s a super cute resort that wasn’t far from our house. There are super cute bungalows you can rent out, a beautiful beach with all the water toys you could want, and a really cute beach bar & grill. We did try to snorkel but the water wasn’t clear enough in our area. Check out the pictures on their website! I can’t wait to go back – the bartender was telling us about a huge remodel they are doing in the next year.

Night 2: The Boardwalk

After the beach we decided to hit the Boardwalk in Christiansted and get some dinner. The thing that surprised me most about island life is that things are pretty much closed up by 10pm. We were able to walk the boardwalk, check out a couple shops, and miraculously got a table at the brewery overlooking the ocean to eat dinner and have some drinks. I highly recommend spending plenty of time at the boardwalk – there’s so much to do, see, eat, and drink!

Stay tuned for another travel blog about the rest of my trip!
