A Letter to my Mom

To the woman who has always supported me, loved me unconditionally, been my shoulder to cry on, the person I call to ask all the weird personal health questions. The woman who laughs so hard with me, cries with me, adventures with me, and works tirelessly to lift me up. Thank you for everything you have done for me. You deserve the biggest shout out in the world. So here goes ☺

You have supported me in all the ways I needed – from coming over to help with cleaning projects that have been stressing me out, to sitting down with me and organizing my bills, to taking me out to make fun new memories. You not only support me emotionally but in all aspects of my life. I have never went without in my life; I have always had everything I needed out of a mother. Someone who guides me, molds me, holds me accountable, loves me, nurtures me, and laughs with me. Someone who I can call my best friend. It’s largely because of you that I have been able to face my circumstances with strength and positivity. You taught me that.

I think it’s so incredible that our family has been dealt this unfortunate hand, and yet we proceeded to have a fun and memorable summer and will continue to cherish life. The way we can still laugh, smile, and go about our normal lives despite what has happened is so admirable and something I feel the need to boast about. You are handling this with so much grace.

You should know that you are “mom” to so many. I hope you know that you are so loved and a role model for so many people. You mean a lot to so many people and they look to you as a source of comfort. You are so loving, understanding, wise, and welcoming. You have spent your life helping others, whether it be nursing, working as an aid at the school, or just being a mom. The way you care for others constantly is so incredible!

I’m sad that you have to go through your daughter having cancer. I’m not a mom so I can only imagine what it’s like to deal with your own child going through this. You deserve 3 fully healthy children, and I can’t wait to beat this thing so we can make that happen! I wish you didn’t have to stress about anything, but we all know that’s not the way life works.

Please make sure you are taking care of yourself. Lean on the ones around you, including me! What you are going through is incredibly difficult and I know it’s easy to get caught up in taking care of me/worrying about me. Make time each week to relax and do something you love. You deserve it! I have everything I need, and I want to make sure you do too.

See below for some of my favorite pictures with you. I cherish our memories together and look forward to making so many more ♡ I love you with all my heart.

  2. Thank you, Hailey. Such kind words!! I am honored to be your mom. ❤️ I will continue to walk beside you through it all. Please don’t worry about me. I know I can take better care of myself, and I will work on that. My greatest life’s work is my children, and I will continue to do whatever I can to guide and support you. Thank you, again, for your uplifting words. I love you with all my heart.❤️❤️
